Pleasing day again today. Worked on 4 pictures in total, and moved forward on them all. Except for the Abbey (Picture 5), I have a clear vision on how to complete them all now.
Came up with an idea for the market stalls, which is to use prints to represent the fruit (round fruit anyway – not sure about bananas!). Tried this in Picture 4, and works well I think.
Put the figures in in Picture 2, and as I thought didn’t quite work out. This approach to painting makes capturing figures very difficult – I kept wanting to paint them with brushes, but had to fight this like mad. Only need to put in the baskets now. I have the idea to collage at least some of the basket, using wood stuck to the picture. Obviously need thin dowel rods (or some form of long straight twigs) to do this.
This afternoon went to Art Van Go to get my Sennen Cove picture printed (which was part of the Prize). However rather than just coming back, then had a good look around their art shop, and then went up to Hobbycraft in Stevenage too! Came back with some useful stuff, although no dowling rods, but spent 4 hours out, rather than the 2 it should have been. So the big day didn’t really happen. Not at all sure I can get everything done, although working under more pressure this evening definitely forced me to move on, on both the Abbey and the market. Let’s see what tomorrow holds.
