Executed a piece I’ve had in mind for some time today
It’s in the style of William Congdon. Congdon was an American artist from the Action Painting school, of which Jackson Pollock is the most famous.
Congdon moved to Europe after the war, and developed a figurative element to the style. He would layer paint, often painting on a black board, and then
scratch out ideas of images and buildings. I first saw his work in the house at Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge, a fantastic gallery well worth a visit.
