November Art Bulletin
Welcome to all I met at the Exhibition, wokshop and Private View in Sunbury. The gallery did a wonderful job hanging the show, which I think looked great. It was so amazing to see all my work hanging in such a great space. The Private View was a lovely evening too – I met loads of interesting people, and everyone seemed to have a good time!
If you intend to go but haven’t had a chance yet, this is the last weekend, it will close at 4pm on Sunday 6th. I will be in the gallery both Saturday and Sunday, so please do pop in and say hello. All the details on my website here, as well as a short video of the exhibition and Private View.
As part of the show I ran a workshop in the gallery, which was a super day with a wonderful group. The work above, which I’ve called “After the Storm”, started off life as my demo piece for the workshop. I normally discard these, but at the end of the day I felt the image had something, so I did a little more work (not too much, I didn’t want to spoil the spontaneity), and like it a lot now, so an added bonus!
After you’ve seen my pictures in the Discerning Eye exhibition (see below), do pop up to Trafalgar Square and take in this wonderful show. Portraits are not normally my thing, but this show is so well curated, and of course Picasso is such a genius, I found it really fascinating. There is an amazing selection of his work, from early realist and impressionistic work, right through the whole length of his career. The final room, although not so large, had an amazing collection and variety of larger work, you could spend an hour just in here! The exhibition is wonderfully curated too, with interesting insights into Picasso’s techniques as well as the sitters and styles. Brilliant!
There’s no let up in November for me though. With two Art Fairs and a Studio Open Day to manage it’ll be busy, but the highlight of the month is sure to be the Discerning Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. This is my first success in getting in a London show, and so it’s very exciting, especially as I got two pictures in (most artists get just one). It’s a well-supported and well-known show as well, so should be very good for me. A nice day out at the very least!
