Dolly (Harbour Beach, St. Ives), 99cm x 75cm, Mixed Media, Collage with Acrylic
Welcome to all I met at my recent Herts Open Studios event. It was very successful for me this year, with both visitor numbers and sales well up on last year, and more sign-ups to the Bulletin too, so thank you!
We’re less than a week away now from the opening of my first Solo exhibition, and to say I’m excited is an understatement. It’s a little bit the lull before the storm however, as all works have been photographed and framed, catalogue is at the printers, labels being produced, so I’m just waiting until I can deliver the paintings.
Just a reminder, there is a Private View on Thursday 13th October, to which you’ll be especially welcome. It’s in the evening, 6.30-8.30pm, and promises to be a very convivial event, a lovely relaxed way to view the pictures, and hopefully to have a chat too! Do please let me know if you think you’re definitely coming, as this helps with planning the drinks etc.
The workshop on Saturday 15th October is now full I’m afraid, with several already on the waiting list, so the Gallery have agreed I can run another one in the Spring, date tba.
Exhibition runs Tuesday 11th October until Sunday 6th November, 10am-4pm every day except Mondays.
The gallery lies within a historic Walled Garden by the River Thames in Sunbury. There is a good Car Park on site, and an excellent Cafe in the Gallery itself, which does superb light lunches and afternoon teas, with all cakes hand-made on the premises.

Opposite the Gallery is a lovely riverside pub, The Magpie, with a pleasant terrace overlooking the river. And there are more pubs and restaurants in Sunbury village, just 200yds along Thames Street.
My other huge event this month has been much more personal, but I’m pleased to say I’ve been accepted as a Fellow of the Digswell Arts Trust. This is a charity with the aim of supporting emerging artists in Hertfordshire. The primary benefit initially is I now have my own Studio, and I can move out of the spare bedroom! But it also provides a community of artists, all of whom are trying to become established, and who mutually support each other. I’m writing this in my Studio as we speak, so I have well and truly moved in!
