A couple of big events coming up this month for you to enjoy.
From Saturday 9th September to Sunday 2nd October artists all over Hertfordshire are opening their Studios and workspaces for you to visit. I first met many of you at previous year’s Open Studios, and it is one of my favourite events of the year. This year though I am doing it a bit differently, and showing from my Studio space at Digswell rather than my home. This year’s event is bigger and better than ever though, if you’re in Herts please do check out all the Studios that are open, and why not visit your local artist! Check out the online brochure here.
The London Painters and Sculptors Group, of which I am a part, are putting on a show in the first week in October, at the Strand Gallery in Central London. The show is formed of 12 emerging artists, with a deal of variety from traditional oil painters to contemporary work – and a section of small paintings too, for those on limited budgets. The Private View, which I’d love you to join us for, is on Tuesday 3rd October, from 5 to 8pm. I will also be at the gallery all day Sunday 8th October. If you’re in London at all that week, please do call in.
National Open Art Competition
I’m pleased to say that the Paddy’s Hole piece I talked about last month has been selected for the National Open Art Competition. This is one of the largest Art competitions in the UK, with some big prizes and a very high profile. Thank you for voting for me, if you did – hopefully it made a difference. The show is at the OXO Tower in November, and promises to be a real celebration of current art practise in the UK, so well worth checking out.
I will be taking part in Herts Open Studios again this year, but this time from my Studio, along with 5 of the other artists there. Do watch out for the brochures which are out now, at venues across Hertfordshire. The whole event runs for the month of September.
I will be exhibiting with the LPSG for a week in October. Should be a great show with some super artists in a lovely Central London space. More info next month, but the Private View will be on Tuesday 3rd October.
