I have finally got there, and today opened my “Open Studio” for the first time.
As ever I’ve completely under-estimated the amount of work that would be required, and consequently was up late Friday and very early Saturday, but was more or less ready at 12 noon. Just as well, as almost immediately across the threshold were my first visitors, and as it happens first customers, so definitely off to a good start.
I’m trying to work as well as show pictures, so I’ve moved my work table into the living room. This means a complete re-organisation of all the furniture, and more changes through the day, but am now very happy with what I’ve got. Not sure how happy Isaac (my son) is though, as access to the TV is rather obscured.
For me even after just one day I feel it’s been a great thing to do and a success. It is just thrilling to meet people, and welcome them into your house, and talk to them about your passion and most of the time they’re interested! We had a number of close neighbours come (we had distributed flyers up and down the street), and that was lovely too, as we’re not normally a very sociable road. So I’m really looking forward to the next 5 days. Do pop in if you’re in St Albans.
