I have a weeks holiday booked – half-term. I’ve set myself the challenge of creating 6 paintings in 6 days. Several reasons
1) I need to produce some pictures for the upcoming St. Albans Exhibition
2) I want to see if the mixed media style that was successful for me with Sennen Cove can be repeated
3) I work better under pressure, forces me to be spontaneous and not over-analyse
4) I need a challenge and a deadline to get things done
A lot of faffing around ensued today. However I did finish putting gesso on the boards I’m using for some of the pictures, and then created the underlying collages for 5 of the 6 pictures. Also managed quite a lot of planning and thinking about what I would do. But no actual painting! Still, the collage will be dry tomorrow and I can start work in earnest.
Rather than do 1 painting a day, I thought I’d start all 6. There is the practical consideration that I can leave things to dry and move on to another picture, but also if I get creatively stuck on 1 picture, I can move to another one, and when I come back hopefully can move on.

Sounds like a fun challenge Dave, good luck and I look forward to seeing the updates 😀
